BETTER SMARTER SIMPLER
Thoughtfully designed cookware for everyday cooking
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel?
Short answer:
Both are excellent for cookware, but 316 stainless steel offers higher corrosion resistance and durability.
304 stainless steel is the most widely used material for cookware and kitchen tools.
316 stainless steel contains an additional element called molybdenum (Mo), which improves resistance to salt, acid, and corrosion.
This means 316 stainless steel is especially ideal for:
- cooking salty or acidic foods
- humid or coastal environments
- long-term durability
304 is already great, but 316 is our premium choice for cookware designed to last a lifetime.
Do I need to clean stainless steel cookware before first use?
Yes — we recommend a quick first cleaning.
During the polishing process, a small amount of fine polishing residue may remain on the surface.
Before first use:
- Wipe the surface with a small amount of cooking oil using a paper towel.
- Wash with mild dish soap and a soft sponge.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
This simple step helps remove polishing residue and prepares the surface for cooking.
After the first cleaning, you can use the cookware normally.
Why does Chefwin use a polishing process?
Chefwin cookware uses a traditional polishing process performed by skilled technicians.
This method helps ensure:
- a more even and durable surface

- long-term durability in real kitchen environments

Why did production move overseas?
Chefwin cookware is the in-house brand of Dongwon Metal, a company with over 40 years of experience producing stainless steel cookware.

- engineering standards
- manufacturing expertise
- quality control systems
The cookware is still produced based on the same Korean design and technical standards.
Is Chefwin cookware safe to use?
Yes.
Chefwin cookware has passed food-contact safety testing, including MFDS and OATC certification standards.
All materials are tested to ensure safe use for everyday cooking.
Can stainless steel cookware rust?
High-quality 316 stainless steel rarely rusts, but mineral residue from water can sometimes look like rust.
Proper drying after washing helps prevent this.
